MEANING OF FIRST AID AND SAFETY EDUCATION

First aid is an immediate and temporary care  (assistance) given to an injured person or person who falls sick before the arrival of a doctor or before he is taken to the hospital.

CONTENTS OF FIRST AID BOX

  • Bandages
  • Cold compress pack
  • Embrocation
  • Analgesics e.g asprin, panadol phensic, paracetamol.
  • Forceps, scissors, cotton wool
  • Plasters mentholated spirit, safety pins
  • Razor blades, splints, splings.
  • Glucose, iodine, hot water bottle, antiseptic soad.
  • Records books and biros

QUALITIES  OF  A  GOOD  FIRST  AIDER

Qualities of a good first aider are:

  • Should be a good observer
  • Should be resourceful
  • Should be knowledgeable
  • Should be tactful and gentle
  • Should be sympathetic without being emotional
  • Should be confident
  • Should be cheerful
  • Should be able to make decisions

The first aid box

A first aid box/bag contains all the kits that are needed for first aid care and emergency.
