The formula for velocity ratio is:
Velocity Ratio = Distance moved by effort / Distance moved by load
or
Velocity Ratio = Input speed / Output speed
The velocity ratio is a measure of the mechanical advantage gained by a machine. It expresses the ratio of the distance moved by the effort applied to the distance moved by the load being lifted or moved by the machine. The higher the velocity ratio, the greater the mechanical advantage, and the easier it is to move the load with less effort.
